Hello! My name is Mark King and let me Introduce you to…

My Fitness Journey…
I’ve had a long fitness journey with many ups and downs. I’d say it all started when I was in high school and I decided that it was less running to join a weight training class over a regular pe class. All I had to do was lift weights and look busy. To my surprise, I was addicted to it. I ended up taking mutable classes a day of it and continued that throughout high school. I didn’t learn as much as I know now but It did create a wonderful foundation for me in the future, I just didn’t know it yet.
The Never Ending “Adventurous Journey” Continues…
I then went to gyms off and on throughout my 20s. All while working 2 jobs and trying to not live off ramen and eggs. As you do in your 20s while going to college. Decided to even take a weightlifting class in college too. However, this too was all just a foundation and I still did not take it as seriously as I should have. Then I moved and worked an office job. I thought this was my calling at the time. A nice, easy 9 to 5 that I could make money, pay the bills and even do some gym stuff on the side. At first, it was nice but something was missing in my life and as time went on I got more and more depressed and felt like I was not amounting to anything that I truly wanted. This lasted for about 5 years. Knowing that I needed a change but just didn’t know what, something awful happened that ended up leading me down the right path…
When my life turned upside down…
I was in a very serious car crash. Rear ended at a stop light but someone going faster than a Formula One driver. I got severe Post-concussion syndrome, photophobia (bright lights and computer screens cause havoc) a cracked brain stem, and the crystals in your ears that cause you to have good balance broke, called BPV or Benign positional vertigo. So needless to say I was bedridden for a while and had to do over 2 years of physical therapy with neurologists and many eye doctor visits. During that time I gained a ton of weight and saw all my hard work go down the drain. I reached 330 lbs during that time and lived off a place called Taco Time. Things were not well and I knew I needed to do something about it. So I moved out to Western NY and joined a local gym. Somehow at that moment, I knew what I wanted to do, something that I’ve always been passionate about but I just didn’t know it. I wanted to be a Personal Trainer.
My Source of Motivation…
So I took the course and started training people at my local gym and I loved it! I still love it! However I kept thinking back to when I was messed up and I thought “ it would have been great if some trainer came to my house and helped me out when I needed it and lacked the motivation, when I was very overweight and unhealthy, I should be that person!” This is how King of the Road Fitness was born. I know what it is like to not want to leave the house, to be scared of what people think of me in a gym, to be really scared of what I think of myself. I even know what it is like to just frankly be too busy to get to the gym. I want to be there for all those people and help them. I want them to be able to have the time and motivation to exercise. I want to help all of them get to the best shape of their life because I’ve been there and know what it’s like to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
